Summer 2019, no-one had even heard of Covid.
Winter 2019, it was an incredible Chinese curio – whole cities being locked-down … hospitals built in days.
Spring 2020, Covid was now a real thing on our doorsteps and in our lives.
The impact to businesses at that time? Liquidity. Working capital. Cashflow. That was the immediate challenge.
The primary concern for business at that time was simple – how to pay the bills?
So the wage furlough scheme was introduced, repayment holidays on finance arranged, rent breaks, government grants, tax deferrals. Anything. Everything. To ensure that business would still be trading when the Covid interruption ended.
Now though, with the vaccines and the road map out of lockdown progressing, thoughts turn to the future.
What will it take for businesses to become successful again? To be profitable? To grow?
Clearly external factors will need to align – see this excellent article: The Crucial Five External Determinants For Business Success.
But the main thing limiting or driving the success of your business?
The single, main, most important thing… your attitude.
Attitude will determine how successful your business will be from this point.
Covid didn’t just happen to you and your business. It happened to everyone. Everywhere.
Don’t let the last 12 months define your future.
Be open to new opportunities. Be ambitious. Be ready to fight. Be ready for long days, for new challenges. Be forward looking. Be in control. Be positive. Be aware and be clear. Your attitude will determine your business success, now more than ever.
